Carolyn L. Gill and John E. Spires are charged with corruption of minors, said township police.
According to authorities, their 8-year-old had 64 unexcused absences at Linwood Elementary School between Aug. 28 and Dec. 15 last year.
During a wellness check at their home on Nov. 15, Gill and Spires allegedly told police they were in the process of obtaining medical records to enroll their child in an online school.
"This was later found to not be true, since as of December 19, 2023, the child was still enrolled as a student at Linwood Elementary School," police said.
The Chichester School District also told authorities that Gill and Spires had received letters from the truancy officer.
Gill, 34, and Spires, 36, each have preliminary hearings scheduled for June 13, police added.
